Ghana Women’s Voices foundation (GWV) provides ‘women- centered’ solutions to challenges faced by women and children in their bid to develop and maximize their resources. Our projects and programs are designed and implemented chiefly by women for women and children. To guarantee ownership and commitment to interventions, as well as ensuring sustainability of projects, GWV draws active participation from stakeholders and prospective beneficiaries in key processes such as; problem identification, planning, preparation, implementation and evaluation.

Education

Strengthening community action towards education is our approach to ensuring access to quality education among marginalized groups. At Ghana Women’s Voices Foundation, we work in ensuring that communities we serve experience the benefits of education in order to drive positive actions in support of education and development. Our Girls education interventions are built on the belief in the power of the educated girl / woman to make her home a better place. Our activities include:

  • Teaching and Learning: Supporting schools with teaching and learning materials
  • Reading Clinics: Equipping children (mainly girls) with literacy skills
  • Mentoring and Skills development: Involving accomplished women leaders in the development of young girls

Health

Ghana Women’s Voices foundation works to increase access to quality health services for Ghanaian women and children, particularly the vulnerable and marginalized groups within the population. Our approach is to develop the skills of women and children to make healthy life choices through health education, while gathering evidences to influence policy decision that affects women and children’s wellbeing.

Children’s Health:Children’s health and wellbeing are very critical in keeping them in school. Parents, guardians and the community all contribute to the health of children. Therefore, our interventions target not only children but the entire community.

  • Brush in 1 -2- 3 minutes – Healthy Oral Healthy Brains
  • Healthy Choices – Sexual and Reproductive Health Education, Grooming and Support for Adolescent Girls

Women’s Health

Our programs with our partners and major stakeholders in health provides access to quality healthcare for women at the point of need in communities where access to health facilities are limited. Our activities include:

  • Training Over the Counter Medicine Sellers – OTCMS
  • Training Pharmacists in community pharmacies
  • Training Medicine Counter Assistants and Frontline Staff in dispensaries
  • Support for Community Health Nurses
